All is well.....whew!

I recently changed pediatricians for Burke because I just had this feeling that his old ped wasn't giving him the care that he needed...well, good thing I did because within 5 freaking minutes, she found that we needed to clip that skin under his tongue cause it was too short and would likely cause him problems with speech and dental issues in the future, and also that he has a mild cleft pallet! WTF! We made an appointment the next day with an ENT (ear nose throat) doctor who clipped his tongue with ease and evaluated his pallet and told us that it is of no concern. The bone is fully formed, but the muscles at the very back are slightly spread, but covered with a strong membrane. It was such a relief to hear that it is no big deal! He did say that Burke will have a higher chance of having a baby with a cleft pallet though, but now a days they can completely fix that with some minor scarring. Anyway, it is nice to have it all dealt with so quickly. (It's crazy that they didn't catch all of this up at the hospital when he was born!! - oh well.) He bled a lot when he got his tongue clipped and of course cried really bad, but within 2 minutes the bleeding stopped and within 20 minutes he was giggling again. He is already sticking his tongue out and clicking it, which he's never done before. He doesn't seem to be in pain at all and is eating and playing as usual. Whew!

We love you Burke! Together, we will get through anything. :)
