Professor of Awesomeness

Sorry it's been a while since we've updated our blog. Burke keeps getting cuter every day and is growing like a weed. We love being with him! He is almost holding his head up all by himself! It bobs a little back and forward, but he's got it down pretty good. And he can stand up on his own if you hold him under his arms. I can tell he really likes being able to do more things with his body. He started smiling a few weeks ago and even started giggling a few days ago! Ya....it is the cutest thing ever!

He is a very happy baby and smiles all the time. He is almost sleeping through the night now...7 hours!! Hip hip hooray!!! He coos a lot too and is grabbing at everything. Stu and I were talking the other day and Stu said, "we made a human being, and it is giggling and smiling!". How cool is that? I am trying to soak in ever minute of every stage because I can already see how fast it is going. Burke had his 2 month checkup last week and he is 12 lbs. 5 oz. (almost double his birth weight!) and 23 1/4 in. long! What a big boy! He really likes Dr. Eyre his pediatrician and she is very pleased with how he is growing.

Here are a few great pictures of our adventures from the last few weeks:

Just hangin' around the house.

Burke found his thumb!

What a big boy! I think he looks more and more like Stu every day.

Our little man!

Burke wearing his first hoodie. :)

Sportin' the polo.

Burke is so happy after a big milk dinner. Yummy!

There's that 'concerned' Grater look that Burke gets when he furrows his brow.

Casey and Henry came to visit for the weekend!

My good friend Casey and her son Henry flew in from Spokane, WA for the weekend. This is the first time she met Burke. He loves Casey already! :)

Henry is the cutest little kid ever! He turned 4 yrs. old the day before the got here. Happy Birthday Henry!

Henry loves trains, so Stu and I got him a train conductor hat, scarf and whistle. He thought it was pretty cool.

We went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. It was actually super cool.

Burke and I in front of a giant sea turtle skeleton.

Burke and I in front of T-Rex's skeleton. Burke's not scared at all. He likes dinosaurs.

Henry playing in the erosion gym. You could bury dinosaurs in the sand and make a river to erode the sand away. It was huge and we played in it for a long time.

We rode the Heber Creeper Railroad in Heber, UT. It was totally lame, even Henry thought so. :) It went about 5 miles an hour through a subdivision of homes out to a reservoir, then the engine car moved around to the back of the train and pulled us straight back to the station. It's the last time we'll be creeping on the Heber Creeper.

Me, Stu, Burke and Henry in front of a train.

Burke was fussing after eating lunch and Stu was trying to make the same face as him. It was making me laugh.

The conductor of the train came by and let Henry wear his official conductor's hat for a while. Henry dug it. (The conductor had mustard stains all over the back of his pants. You'd think at $24 per ticket he could afford a washing machine. Also, how does one get mustard on the back of ones pants? Hmmm.)

Seeing Casey and Henry off.

Goodbye Case and Henry. We love you and LOVED having you in town and hanging out for a few days.

Burke's first smile caught on film!

This is sort of a half smile, but wanted to post it online so everyone can see how cute it is when he smiles. When he smiles really big, he has a dimple on his right cheek. It is so cute!

Happy Easter

We went to Don and Ruthie's for an Easter egg hunt with the kids, some good food and great times. This is little Dylan, Ruthie's son.

Burke and Stu in 'Dad's Domain' a.k.a. The Garage.

Stu's domain is the garage. I have a very small corner (4x5 ft area) where he 'lets' me put my gardening stuff. :) Last Saturday the weather was great so we cleaned and organized one side. It was fun.

Dad and Burke hanging in the garage.

My two favorite guys in all the world!

So cute!

Burke holding his head up!

I spent a long time on the couch today with Burke practicing holding his head up. I captured different phases of the process. It takes all his effort to hold his head up with those chubby cheeks and chin! :)

This is one of my favorite pictures. The look on his face is priceless!

Look how good he is holding his head up! I'm so proud of my little guy. :)

  1. Nice! He is turning into such a chunk! I just want you guys to know that I am a way better uncle than Marie is an aunt, but she feels very self conscious about it, so don't say anything ; )

  2. What a cutie! Isn't it amazing how quickly they change and grow - everyday is totally different with a baby. There is no norm for a long time - and while it's exhausting, it's lots of fun! Glad you are enjoying and having a great time.

A note about the Heber Creeper - yes, it's pretty lame. But the Polar Express ride might still be something to consider in a few years. We took the boys this year, Carter had just turned 6, and he loved the idea of going to the North Pole to pick up Santa who then came in to say hi to everyone and give a bell to all the kids. It's something we adults suffer through to see the smiles on their cute faces : )

  3. He sure is cute!!! Addi is sitting here with me & giggling at all his photos & saying "Baby, Baby, Baby!" He really does look HUGE, I've noticed out Henry getting bigger too. Can't believe they are already 2 mos old (Henry on Monday).
Glad you guys are having fun & getting some shut eye!!! Love ya, Jules

  4. We heard the Polar Express or the Haunted ride are both good. Alright...I'd be willing to give it another try. For the kids. :)

Julie, I'm glad to hear Henry is growing and doing well. I want to see picture of him! I bet he is adorable!
